Brief History


St. Francis Xavier Learning Center was established in June 1982 with the mission of providing a home a away from home for children of families in the Catalunan Grande Community where parents are mostly at work within the community and downtown. Given a place aptly conducive to quality teaching and learning, it envisions a community of learners trained to be critical thinkers, self-reliant with self-confidence guided with goals towards a progressive and harmonious development of their moral, intellectual and physical faculties oriented by a genuine love of God, of country and of neighbors.

Equipped with tools for teaching and learning from the College of Agriculture and Forestry founded by Dr. Rosalina A. Evora in 1978 in the logging camp owned by the Americans, she initiated its birth in the Monte Maria Village Subdivision with a deeper motive, that of giving her own children the quality education that will meet the needs of globalizations.

With then St. Francis Xavier Learning Center, provides itself with Science Laboratory equipment and library books not only fitting to preschoolers bur even to higher levels of learning.

Inspired by the results of its products, where a preschoolers is a reading literate before the first grade, fifty parents committed their children from Montessorri,Kinder and Preparatory in the year 1983. there were 3 teachers who helped Dr. Rosalina A. Evora in giving basic education to the preschoolers enrolled.There were two classrooms available. The first year of operation was successful and inspiring that the following year, the enrollment had increased. This followed the hiring of additional teachers and construction of additional classrooms.

Two fruitful years after, the school received the permit and recognition by the Department of Education to operate for Grade One to Elementary level. Since there was a need for a bigger area for student activities, the St. Francis Xavier Learning Center campus is located to where it is now.
